Walt Whitman (1819 - 1892) signature / signed note written on postcard. This card was stamped by the USPS in Camden Feb 6th 2PM 1884, and then also stamped Feb 6th 3PM Philadelphia PA Transit. The card itself, handwritten by Whitman, reads as follows: "Camden New Jersey Feb.6 '84 In response to yours of the (contents safely rec'd) I forward you my poems, special (?)3 Edition, one Vol. by same mail with this - to same address as this card. Would you kindly send me a postal soon as you get it right, notifying me? Walt Whitman". Excellent example of his autograph, postcard is adhered along the top edge on the reverse to an image of Whitman. The postcard is addressed to Mrs. James Barnard of Nashua, New Hampshire.
