A Japanese Seto Stoneware Dish with Inscription -EdoPeriod.The underglaze decoration comprises a simple floral pattern as well as two Japanese characters and two small circular designs. The contrasting chocolate-brown and cream colours are very pleasing. The underside is decorated with three broad brown bands. Diameter 21cm (8.25 inches). LateEdoperiod (1603 - 1868).
Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer fromBrighton.
