An early/mid-20th century Japanese lacquer work portfolio front and back cover featuring border of blossoming sakura surrounding gilt and enamelled panel, the left side depicting Nijo-Jo (Kyoto Castle) with mother of pearl detail, the right side featuring two figures with raised bone detail above turtle with calligraphy above, the back cover with blossoming sakura throughout, the front cover interior bearing label inscribed 'Tanemasa Photographer Dealer in Japanese Photos, Albums & Frames Nagasaki, Japan', each 27 x 35.2cm, both loose. Additional Information There are some chips and losses, particularly to the corners and edges, some further surface scratches, mostly to the front cover, there is some rubbing and fading to the calligraphy, some scuffs to the front panels also. General buildup of dirt and some surface dents.
