JOHN PRESTON, LONDON; a rare late 18th century cittern, stamped 'Preston Maker London' to back of neck, with 'watch key' tuners, tortoiseshell fingerboard, length 70cm (for restoration). A very similar example can be seen in the National Trust Snowshill Manor and Garden Collection, Gloucestershire, reference NT1335351. Additional Information This rare instrument has extensive damage including dents, splits and cracks to back and side. Tortoiseshell missing from fingerboard etc, please see additional photos.
