A rare Imperial Chinese red lang yao brush pot featuring a 6-character Kangxi mark and of the period. Dimensions: 5 inches tall X 4 3/4 inches wide; 12.7 cm tall X 12.1 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Glaze skips around the foot; glaze cracks to the bottom of the interior. Provenance: From Dr. Pung Cheng, a professor emeritus at SUNY Stony Brook. These items were collected by his grandfather who brought them from Shanghai in 1949. A rare imperial Langyao red brush pot dating from the Qing Dynasty sold as Lot 111 at Christie's Hong Kong on April 5, 2016. A similar copper red glazed brush pot dating to the Yongzheng Period sold as Lot 74 at Sotheby's London on November 7, 2012.
