A sculpture of St Eligius, 1480 - 1500 St Eligius, the patron saint of all smiths, is depicted with his attributes of hammer and horse's leg. According to the legend, he cut off the entire foreleg of a stubborn horse, then re-shoed the hoof and finally reattached it to the horse.
