An unusual German jewellery box in Renaissance style, circa 1860 The solid wood corpus veneered in rosewood. The stepped pedestal with a narrow drawer at the front and raised inlays of gilt brass. The sides decorated with coffering and gilt ornamental fittings, some with coloured enamel. The stepped lid with fine, gilt fittings and a fully sculptured, figurative finial of a recumbent muse with a lapdog. The interior lined with the original red silk damask, the original mirror with ripple moulding in the lid. Dimensions 50 x 60 x 37.5 cm. Die Seiten mit Kassetten gegliedert und mit vergoldeten, teils farbig emaillierten Zierbeschlägen dekoriert. Gestufter Deckel mit feinen, vergoldeten Beschlägen, vollplastische Deckelfigur in Form einer liegenden Muse mit Schoßhund. Das Innere original mit rotem Seidendamast ausgekleidet, im Deckel originaler Spiegel mit Flammleistenrahmen. Maße 50 x 60 x 37,5 cm.
