An Elegant company making merry in an interior oil on panel, painted on the reverse of a panel, possibly a firescreen decorated with a bird, an insect and flowers with leaves entwined within gilt geometric designs 46 x 69cm Footnote: Provenance: The Alan Jacobs Gallery, London, from whom acquired by the late husband of the present owner Condition report: Double sided panel. Painting on the front is in a good condition and the paint layers is stable. There are some retouchings across the surface, mainly located in the background. The retouchings are well matched to the original. The varnish is clear, even and semi-glossy. The decorative painting on the reverse has suffered from some scuffs and scratches. Localised areas of retouchings which are well matched to the original The frame is in a good condition with glass on the reverse. The panel has slipped in the frame and requires better fitting.
