卧马为白玉圆雕而成，通身布满黄褐沁纹。玉马四蹄盘曲，呈匍卧姿，其鬃毛与尾以阴线装饰，尾部盘卷，紧贴至肚。刀法飘逸自然，线条遒劲洒脱，立体呈现出骏马的肌肉线条，更为惊艳之处在于玉质沁色与马之姿态巧妙融合，化腐朽为神奇，生动可人。此摆件不仅用材上佳，沁色古雅，造型亦极具神韵。玉马虽为卧姿，但四肢修长，线条灵动，于瘦削间亦见俊逸姿态。其造型风格有元人《骏骨图》的意味，是一件颇具古韵的明代玉刻，与清代玉马圆润膘壮的造型迥然相异，颇具收藏鉴赏之价值。
