An Imperial Chinese doucai cup with a 6-character Yongzheng mark and of the period. The cup features 8 Sanskrit characters in lotus and vine tracery with a ruyi border at the bottom. Dimensions: 2 1/4 inches tall X 3 5/8 inches wide; 5.7 cm tall X 9.2 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: A tiny hairline to the rim. Provenance: From a private collection in San Francisco, California. A similar Imperial Sanskrit cup from the Yongzhen period can be found at the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, collection number 004400-N000000000 (fig. 1).
