A Japanese Hirado blue & white cistern, 19th century, the domed cover with dog of Fo finial, the cistern with a gilded and pierced rim on globular body with lion mask and tongue handles, painted with a mountainous landscape with buildings, with an engraved white metal tap housing, raised on a base with pierced fan shape panels and painted stylised Fo dog masks, on spreading foot, 45.5cm Condition report: Dog finial has been off at the rear feet and restored. Its right ear has a tiny rim chip. There is a manufactury firing crack where the cistern joins the base. A small glaze chip on the top of one of the fan shape panels.
