712-30 BC, Late Period/Ptolemaic. A beautiful restrung necklace comprising multi-coloured discoid and tubular faience beads as well as a dark stone amulet pierced transversely for suspension. An amulet is a magical object believed to bestow positive or protective powers upon its owner. The power of each amulet was variable and derived from a combination the amulet’s shape, decoration, inscription, colour, material, and any magic incantations spoken over the piece.
