明代玉带的装饰题材多样，分为瑞兽类、人物类、花草类与吉语类等，依故宫博物院研究员张广文先生在《明代玉器》中对明代玉带题材分为六类，即龙、飞龙、麒麟等瑞兽图案，狮、马、驼、鹿等动物图案，云鹤、花鸟等禽类图案，花卉图案，人物类图案（如婴戏、高士等），以及文字类图案（如喜、万寿等）。就目前出土与传世所见者，以上图案题材中，以龙纹、麒麟为最多。此件工艺精湛，雕刻精美，玉质莹润，十分难得。
