17th - 18th c. Eastern European Paint Decorated Box, with early iron hinges, lock and key, floral decorated exterior surface, lid interior with two attached hand painted images of saints venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church - St. Kathrina (St. Catherine of Alexandria) and St. Regula (sister of Felix, patron saint of Zurich), both drawings dated 1630, 4 3/4" high, 10 5/8" x 7 5/8". Dry painted exterior surface, paint losses and wear, one lid side molding replaced, creases and losses to edges of saint paintings.
