以童子作為題材的玉雕作品經久不衰，始于宋代，興盛於明清。有多種不同的美好寓意。本件以整塊玉料琢刻而成，質地細密油潤如脂，器形獨特。中間為圓潤的寬腹瓶身，兩童子立于側邊，一邊童子手持蓮花，一邊童子戲球，姿態各異。童子開臉圓潤，刻畫生動，衣褶線條自然流暢。 本件作品童子題材經典，但整體造型少見，設計精巧。童子刻畫純樸天真，饒有童趣。玉雕在清代可謂是蓬勃發展，除了當時時代背景強而有力地推動了玉雕的發展進步外，再加上當時玉料充足，如本件作品便是選用極佳玉料整塊琢刻而成。
