See Wamser, L., Die Welt von Byzanz - Europas Östliches Erbe, München, 2004, items 515-519, for discussion and typology.13.4 grams, 62mm (2 1/2"). Ex private Dutch collection, 1980s. Silver crosses, made in Late Antiquity, occur as hollow bodies, but in general they were cast, as was their facetted pendant. This typology occurs mainly in gold and silver, although the gold samples are rare. Sometimes the central knob was decorated with an almandine stone.
