An Austro-Hungarian silver cased HaMelech Esther scroll, megillah, Vienna, c.1858, maker's mark incuse CSS, the cylindrical body decorated with vertical bands of continuous oval rosettes centred by a vacant shield-shaped cartouche to a stylised crown top capped by a finial designed as a vase of flowers, the parchment with 28 lines to a column (heavy damage to first two), depth 16.6cm, case length (inc. winder) 38cm.
