A group of nine 19th century gilt-mounted mourning brooches, comprising: five black enamel examples, each with central glazed compartment, three enclosing hairwork, one plaited hair (the reverse with indistinct inscription dated 1840) and one vacant, the latter two bearing the legend IN MEMORY OF to the surround, all with scroll design borders, widths 4.4, 3.2, 3.1 (2) and 3.3cm; three blue enamel examples, two with central glazed compartments enclosing plaited hair (one with reverse engraved Presented by J.C. to M.
