Frederick William Hayes (1848-1918) 'Deer Stalking' signed 'F W Hayes' l.l., inscribed with title on stretcher verso, oil on canvas 64 x 101cm Condition report: Oil on canvas which is unlined. The canvas tension is slightly slack. There is extensive cracking and loss to the paint layer in the sky. The areas affected appear very smooth compared to surrounding areas which are slightly wrinkled. It seems likely that the affected sections of the painting are in areas which had been previously filled and retouched. There are scattered areas of overpaint across the painting, mainly located in the sky. The varnish is uneven and yellowed.
