CHINESE INK PAINTING OF RUNNING STEED ON THE GRASSLAND
Xu Beihong (1895-1953), Han nationality, formerly known as Xu Shoukang, was born in Qiting Town, Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. Modern Chinese painter and art educator. Together with Zhang Shuqi and Liu Zigu, they are known as the "three heroes of Jinling". His traditional Chinese painting is well-known for its color and ink, especially for its galloping horse.
PROVENANCE:From The Estate of David George Glen (1924-2016) of Delaware, raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of William and Agnes Glen. His formal education was completed at Daniels Stewarts College, Edinburgh, after which he entered the field of medicine. He was a certified rehabilitation specialist, serving in military and civilian hospitals in the United Kingdom. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the Royal Air Force. In 1955 David immigrated to the United States, becoming a citizen in 1961.
