Robert Crannell Minor Sr. Connecticut,1839-1904 Depicts a dark forest with tall lush trees framing a cloudy sky. Minor was a Barbizon landscapist, travelling to Italy and Germany to study under Gustave Boulanger and von Luppen. in 1872 Minor was represented at the Paris Salon and was later made an Associate member of the National Academy of Design in 1888. Oil on canvas,Canvas 26 1/4" x 36 1/4",Frame 32 1/4" x 41 1/2" Signed "Minor" lower right corner, plaque marked "Robert C. Minor" to front of frame under image, old gallery label attached on verso.
