A choice Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th - 5th Century AD. This large example is 4-1/4 inches high and portrays a Bodhisattva with elongated ears, pierced lobes and Urna, wearing an ornate, gem-studded headdress. His hair is gathered in a top knot and flows in curls along the side of the head. In excellent condition, retaining traces of the red and black pigment typical of the Hadda types.
