An excellent Gandharan stucco head from the Indus Valley, ca. 4th - 5th Century AD. This superbly detailed sculpture is 3-3/4 inches high, is masterfully carved from stucco and depicts a balding man with hair combed along the temples. He sports a full beard and large mustache. His eyes are deep-set, topped with prominent brows and have drilled pupils. This sculpture clearly shows the Greek stylistic influence on this region.
