Herbert Thomas Dicksee RE (1862-1942) ‘Hard Times’, King Charles spaniel laying down, patiently waiting dry point etching on vellum, signed in pencil, edition of 350, no other state, plate destroyed, published by Frost & Reed 1917 image 22.8 x 35cm Provenance: Purchased from the grandson’s art dealer; the Bryan Steele Collection. Condition report: Unexamined out of the glazed frame, there is a slight wave to the paper, on the right-half. There is some time staining and areas of foxing emerging to the margins, two scratches are evident in the image, each measuring approximately 2-3cm, in the top-left corner and below the nose of the spaniel - see illustration. Overall, well-presented in an oak frame and ready to hang.
