Renato Bruson (Granze 1936) After having studied singing with the soprano Elena Fava Ceriati at the Conservatory of Padua, in 1957 he began his opera career playing supporting roles alongside the great baritones of the time such as Tito Gobbi (from whom he received many technical suggestions), Ettore Bastianini and Aldo Protti and Giangiacomo Guelfi, in operas by Bellini, Donizetti, Massenet, Verdi and Puccini. In 1964 he made his debut at the Teatro Biondo in Palermo, in Rossini's La cambiale di matrimonio, then in unforgettable performances, at the RAI in Turin he performed Sergej Prokofiev's Il matrimonio in convento. 1967 was an important year for Bruson's career, when he made his debut at the Teatro Regio in Parma, one of the most sought-after venues in post-war Italy, with one of the most competent and severe audiences in Europe at the time. His career as a singer spans all the major theatres in Europe and the United States, although since 2012 he has dedicated himself more intensely to teaching, giving master classes all over the world. In the same year he sang for the last time the role of Giorgio Germont in Traviata under the baton of Keri-Lynn Wilson, the opening title of the opera season at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno. In 2013, as a farewell to the stage, he was invited to participate in the celebrations of the bicentenary of Giuseppe Verdi's birth at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto as director and singer in Falstaff, at the venerable age of 77, together with the students of the Accademia della Scala and conducted by Maestro Sebastiano Rolli.
