Circle of Jean-Marc Nattier (French, 1685-1766) Portrait of Louise-Marie of France (1737-1787), known as Madame Louise, daughter of Louis XV, half length, in a pink and white lace dress and ermine stole, holding a carnation oil on canvas 72.5 x 59.5cm Provenance: Farm House, Farm Street, Mayfair, London. Condition report: The canvas has been relined and the work has been cleaned relatively recently. A little craquelure in places. Seen under UV: there is a general washing of retouching over the background, which fluoresces purple under UV light. This appears to continue over the figure as well, however it is not clear what this is, it is possibly the varnish. There are some scattered darker small flecks of retouching places, most significantly to the upper background and right edge background, however, there are a few flecks to the chin, neck and forehead. A few touches to the left of the hair, which are probably due to craquelure. With a Louis XIV style frame and ready to hang. Dimensions of frame: 83 x 73cm overall
