Leopoldo Dumini (Italian, 1825-1908), after Correggio (Italian, 1489-1534) The Adoration of the Christ Child signed and inscribed on artist's label verso, oil on canvas 82 x 68cm, in an ornate Florentine carved giltwood frame Correggio's original composition is in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence. Condition report: Oil on canvas which is unlined and attached to a wooden stretcher. The canvas tension is sightly slack, but the picture is generally in plane. Some deep cracks are starting to pull the canvas forward slightly. A small tear has been repaired from the reverse with a canvas patch. There are a couple of areas of craquelure with raised, sharp edges – the Virgin’s face and in the lower left corner. There are areas of retouching covering small damages and wear, in areas this has darkened but is generally acceptable from a normal viewing distance. The varnish is slightly yellowed but even and glossy overall. The ornately carved frame is in a good condition overall with minor losses at the corners. Overall size including frame 115 x 98cm. Frame depth approx 6cm
