William Thornley (fl.1858-1898) Waiting for the catch indistinctly signed l.r., oil on canvas laid down on board 25 x 45cm Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been laid to board. There are minor lumps across the surface caused by the adhesion to the board. The paint layers are slightly worn and abraded in many areas. The sky appears to have extensive overpaint covering the wear. The varnish is dull, yellowed and no longer adequately saturating the paint layers below. White spots across the surface are in the varnish layer. There is a light layer of surface dirt present.
