Japanese Meiji Period Hand Carved Solid Wood Emperor's Throne W/Lacquer & Gems - This spectacular piece is a solid wood Emperor's throne chair from the Meiji Period of Japan. The piece was hand carved, and is finished with a lacquer finish and inset bone eyes in the dragon arms. The piece shows stunning attention to detail, with an elaborate center roundrel containing a dragon clutching the flaming pearl. The chair's arms are also in the form of winged dragons, holding the flaming pearl in their mouths and with inset bone eyes. The chairs legs are in the form of the dragons legs, and you can see every scale, claw, and feature in this elaborately carved piece. The chair is in beautiful condition, and measures 49"H x 26"W x 35.5"D. Please note: one of the back legs has been repaired, please see photos. One of the inset eyes is missing from the piece, however it is hardly noticable as it is on one of the inner eyes of the piece, and would be easily repaired.
