A Shakudo double sided oval hinged locket, c.1880, with an oval Japanese mixed metal Shakudo plaque to one cover, depicting a hawk or eagle in a prunus tree. Both plaques rub set to a chain link border with gadroon sides and a plain bale. Tested as approximately 14-15ct gold. 15 x 30mm approximately, 30.67g Condition report: Light surface marks commensurate with age. Some wear to the surface of the panels. Shuts well. The chenier in the hinge has moved up slightly. Tarnished to the interior.
