A Victorian gold diamond set oval shield form brooch, c.1870, with a raised central boss, with an old European cut diamond, star set to the centre. An oval plate below with applied flower heads at the compass points, pierced scrolls and applied beadwork to a bloomed ground with serrated edge, with glazed locket verso. Metal pin to original 'C' catch. Tested as approximately 9ct gold. 40 x 30mm, 12.48g Condition report: Good overall colour. Tarnish around the fluted guards. Replacement metal pin. Diamond 5.20 x 4.90mm approximately. We are not willing to remove the guards to obtain a depth.
