A sterling silver Rolex full hunter officer's trench watch, c.1915, 36mm diameter with a white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and spade hands, to hunter cover on a sprung hinge, engraved 'To Sergt Major A. E. Miner M. M., 15th Nov 1920, From Major G. E. Tallents'. Marked to the inside W&D Rolex, Brevet no. 17363, case no. 719666. A screw back, similarly marked, import hallmark London 1917, with later metal expanding bracelet, 41.47g. Major G. E. Tallents was with the Lancashire Fusiliers, 1st Battalion and was present at the ‘Lancashire Landing’ at Gallipoli Condition report: Currently running. No guarantee as to timekeeping or continued running. Hands are later replacements. Crown is a later replacement. Movement is unmarked, possibly a later replacement. Dial screws are missing, dial is loose and spins round. Some marks/scratches to dial. Perspex has yellowed. Hinge and push button to cover functioning. Hinge has possibly been re-rivted. Scratches/tarnish to case commensurate with age. Front and back covers dented slighted.
