Early and historically important portrait of the English King of English, Scotland & Ireland and successor of Queen Elizabeth I. The portrait is likely from the workshop of John I De Critz who was the Kings court appointed Serjeant Painter and has produced numerous compositions of the King and his court members since his appointment in 1603, The technical detailing in the face and bight pigments are distinctly those of the Antwerp master painter.
