A substantial carved green-brown stone amuletic pendant of Thoth as a moon god, manifested as a squatting baboon wearing the crescent moon and disc of the full moon on his head, an evocation of the lunar aspect of Thoth; pierced horizontally through the moon for suspension. 13.1 grams, 49mm (2"). Property of a West Sussex, UK, gentleman; acquired from a North London gallery; previously from a family collection, acquired 1920s and thence by descent.
