AN EARLY LOUIS XVI GREY AND GREEN PAINTED FAUTEUIL CIRCA 1775 With arched padded back, the moulded frame with flowerhead cresting, padded arms, downscrolled supports and upholstered seat on fluted legs 93cm high, 60cm wide, 53cm wide Provenance: Christie's, London, Anonymous sale, 3rd July 1973, Lot 28 (£175). Condition Report: There are marks, scratches, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use. The paint distressed to reveal the underlying beech in particular to protruding areas such as the flower carved crest and arms, also the legs and feet. There are holes to the underside of the legs, one foot chipped. Some joints have probably been repaired as there are some traces of glue. There are traces of a wash to the paintwork on the back. We are unable to comment on the areas under the upholstery. The upholstery is slightly compressed to the seat area, with some wear to the arms, some depressions to the pile of the fabric and with a ?moth threadbare patch to the front of the seat, some stains. Some evidence of worm. There are holes to the corners inside the seat rails probably from blocks/corner stretchers that have been removed. The underside of the seat rails have holes from previous upholstery tacks. Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition. Condition Report Disclaimer
