王坦修（1744-1809），字中履，号正亭，湖南宁乡人。乾隆三十七年壬辰科（1772）进士。官至侍讲学士，颇有政声。取仕不避贵贱，曾坚持录取贫寒之士清安泰，此人后来官至巡抚，为时人称道。晚年辞官归籍，嘉庆十四年（1809）主教岳麓书院。王氏学识渊博，博古通今，曾参与编辑《四库全书》，校勘《永乐大典》。
