According to the Anhui gazetteer Liu'An Zhou Zhi (六安州志) dated to the 11th year of the Tongzhi reign (corresponding to 1872), Wu Song (dates unknown) is the artist's name for Nie Hualing, who is described in the records as a scholar good at poetry and prose, calligraphy and painting.
