“素三彩”最早在清末寂园叟《陶雅》中有记载，曰“西人以康熙黄、茄、绿三色之瓷品为素三彩”。陶瓷界将“素三彩瓷”定义为“素三彩瓷是瓷器釉上彩品种之一，是以黄、绿、紫三色为主的瓷器，其实并不限于此三色，但不用红色。其制作方法是在高温烧成的瓷胎上用彩釉填在已刻划好的纹样内，再经低温烧成。因色彩中没有红彩，故名”。
此像以德化白瓷为胎，洁白细腻，人物生动传神，身体比例匀称，色彩鲜艳而不失沉实。文官端坐于基座之上，身着彩服，绘工精细，图案丰富，色彩绚烂。
