A finely crafted Thai Buddha head, Sukhothai, 15th centuryA bronze head of Buddha, finely modelled with slightly bow-shaped mouth, the round face flanked by pendulous earlobes, the hair in tight curls. The right ear is missing. Broken at the neck. Excellent patina. Socketed. Height 8.5 cm, with socket 14 cm. Provenance: South German private collection. Acquired in the 1990s in a Zurich auction house, Switzerland. Previously Swiss private collection Charles A. Béguelin (1888 - 1979), who worked as an architect for the Siamese court in Bangkok from 1912 to 1934.Condition: II -
