白天鹅羽翼纯净，体型优美，神态庄重，叫声动人，《易•渐》云：“六二：“鸿渐于盘，饮食街街，吉。”《本草纲目•禽》说：“鸿鹄通称天鹅，羽毛白泽，其翔极高而善步，一举千里，展翅凌云。”《说文》又曰：“天，颠也；至高无上，从一，从大。”《易经》揭示了天鹅的寓意，《本草》定义了天鹅的本质，《说文》赋予了天鹅的尊贵，故后世皆以天鹅为高、雅、纯、美的象征。此件天鹅以铸铁为材，其铁质精良，棕褐深沈。铁表经数百年时光，产生出一种质感莹润的金属包浆，颇为迷人。铸造精细，体外见有明显铸造构件的拼接痕迹，知其为泥范法分铸而合拼所成。天鹅曲颈展翅若休憩状，羽毛纹理层次清晰而不失错落有致之感，因其材质特殊性保存至今可谓难得。
