A triangular Italian Renaissance box made of embossed and carved leather, dated 1599Dark leather with relief decoration of lions and mythical creatures amidst leafy vines. Two vertical eyelets for a carrying cord on each side. The date and location "1599 Padua" chiselled into the base. Remnants of the old silk lining on the inside. Height 7.5 x 9.5 x 9.5 cm.Enclosed is an old inventory label from the exhibition "Esposizione di pelli e cuoi lavarati a mano" of the "Società degli Amici di Castel S. Angelo" in Rome.Condition: III
