A fine South German Renaissance cabinet case with straw inlays, circa 1560-80Rectangular cabinet case of softwood with fall front. Corner mounts cast in relief and movable handle of gilt bronze. Decorated all-over on four sides with differently coloured straw and floral coffers surrounded by ornamental bands. Lockable, the lock probably replaced during the time of use. Nine drawers on the inside. The face panels and the inside of the fall front with fine marquetry of different noble woods and fruit woods. Arabesque cartouches between scrollwork and leaves. Fine gilt and silvered mounts, the head of one pull ring missing. Dimensions 24.5 x 31.5 x 22 cm.Condition: II
