A South German or Austrian ebony cabinet, 17th centuryBody of ebony and ebonized wood with ripple molding and reverse glass paintings depicting scenes from the gospels and various saint legends. Hinged doors on the obverse, mirror inlays on the back of the doors. The face panels of the seven drawers also decorated with ripple moldings and reverse glass paintings. Partially somewhat bumped and rubbed, the mirror surfaces damaged, the screws of the hinges partially replaced, locks and silk linings of the drawers of later date.
