A Dutch grandfather clock by Jan Breukelaar, Amsterdam, circa 1770Oakwood case with finely grained walnut veneer. Brass applications cast in relief, the door decorated with a portrayal of Europa with the bull. Glazed clock cabinet with (glass cracked) carved with scrolling leaves and volute gable. Eight-day movement, drive with strings, pulleys, and two weights. Pendulum with pendulum spring. Dial board with spandrel. Number ring with Roman numerals. Second hand, indication of date, week day and month. Arch with moon phase. Striking mechanism on two bells. Movement in working order, exact function not tested. Height 237 cm.
