A compass in the centre with the original glass (intact). Signed "Guibout Paris" on the lower bar. A movable support on the underside, with a ball joint and attachment for mounting on a tripod. Includes the original case of leather-covered oak, the fastening strap torn. Dimensions without the case 14 x 27.5 cm. Guibout is documented as an instrument and compass maker in Paris circa 1745-65.Condition: II +
