A Roman Dionysos statuette, 2nd – 3rd century Impressive bronze of the youthful Dionysos. Strands of hair fall to the left and right on the chest, which is covered by a panther skin. In the right hand a wine jug. The statuette, which is cast open at the back, was probably originally attached to a piece of furniture or a chariot. A large eyelet at the back and a pin at the back of the head served for attachment. Feet lost. Beautiful patina. Height 17 cm.Provenance: South German private collection.Condition: II -
