A pair of Roman appliqués, 1st - 3rd century Two large furniture fittings, each with a striding Eros figure in relief. The head of the figure is turned back, with a downward pointing torch behind the back. The plate framed by simple hallmark decoration. Above and below stylised floral decoration in openwork technique. A large mounting pin on the reverse. Chipping in places in the area of the lower and upper decoration, otherwise intact and with a beautiful patina. Height 16.8 cm and 15 cm. Provenance: South German private collection.Condition: II -
