AN UNUSUAL KARABAGH RUG, SOUTH CAUCASUSThe field with polychrome floral panels and small floral motifs and animal figures around large abrasghed light-blue fine lattice design medallion containing shaded rust floral medallion and sandy-yellow rosette panel centrepiece. In abrashed light blue border of multicoloured hooked panels and hooked leaf vine between angular floral meander, running-dog and plain stripes, approx: 152cm. x 132cm. Unusual piece for this type with very nicely drawn design and bold appearance. Apart of few small old repairs, very well done, this rug has very good pile, soft wool quality. Selvages original. One end with original plaitted kilim, tiny loss in one corner, secured. Other end with short fringes also secured. In general this rug is in very good usable condition. Very attractive and elegant piece.
