拍品老坑端石做就，色如紫肝，温滑如玉。器呈四方，起宽棱，棱上饰海浪锦地纹，内做砚堂呈古钟形，锦地夔龙纹组成钟钮，下带边缘处精刻锦地纹。砚背浅挖覆手，内刻行书铭文诗：自知清净好，不要问时豪。就石安琴枕，穿松压酒糟。山情因月甚，诗语入秋高。身处无余事，惟应笔研劳。王世琛书。钤印：王世琛印。整体敦实厚重，纹饰古朴大方，雕刻工艺细腻，打磨出众，勘为清代端砚精品。附黄花梨制天地盖。
王世琛(1680年-1729年)，字宝传，号艮甫，江苏苏州人。康熙五十一年“壬辰科”殿试第一名，被授予翰林院修撰。曾任山东学政，累官至少詹事。
