Late 3rd-early 2nd millennium BC. A bronze bowl stand with openwork cylindrical body comprising a pair of round-section hoops, two panels consisting of an X-framed by two vertical struts, a pair of ibex modelled in the round walking right, anatomical detailing to the animals. Cf. Mahboubian Gallery, Elam: Art and Civilization of Ancient Iran 3000-2000 BC, UK, 2004, p.18, item 3, for a comparable vessel stand with dogs pursuing deer. 1.4 kg, 21cm (8 1/4"). From a private family collection formed in London from the mid 1980s to early 1990s; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.10889-179771.
